the Pastor's pen

Greetings to Everyone,

I hope in the Lord that everyone is getting along well. In the Sermon on the Mount, Matt. 5:1-16- The first part of many topics Jesus taught teaches us about our attitude. The Beatitudes tell us how our attitudes should be. He told the disciples, “Rejoice and be glad because great is your reward in heaven.” The very first topic He taught on was The Salt and the Light. Jesus told the disciples they were the salt that needed not to lose its saltiness. If salt loses its saltiness, it is of no use for anything. He also told them they were the light of the world. Hard, busy times call for perseverance and dependency on Christ.

Our church is entering a very busy two months of the year as we launch the Easter Program, a large undertaking and big commitment for everyone involved. We each need to examine our lives and priorities and decide, in our hearts, to give to the Lord our very best. Pray daily, get rest, and do not pile on more to your already busy life. Consider backing off from some personal choices rather than half-heartedly trying to do everything. You are the salt and the light of the world. As you shine forth in your life, Christ in you must shine and not be hidden. Our bodies and minds sometimes tire during practice, and our attitudes become sour; this is when we must remember to allow the light of Christ to shine through us. It has been said that the light that shines the furthest is the light that shines the brightest at home.

Our focus must be 1st on why we are doing this and 2nd on who we are doing it for. Honoring the Lord means loving each other, being patient with one another, and being willing to be committed to doing our part. I ask of you to pray for each other, support each other, and allow the Lord to make you saltier and your light shine brighter through this time. Begin now seeking the Lord personally for yourself. Let us be that shining light for those the Lord will send to the Easter Program. Do what you do for the glory of the Lord.

In Christ
