Mark your calendars and bring your family and friends to this venue which features a cast and crew of over 80 adults and children, live animals, beautiful scenery and a powerful message of hope! The play, which is divided into three acts, 12 scenes, lasts about an hour and 15 minutes before the invitation and closes with a majestic grand finale. Our prayer is that you experience the great love that Jesus has for you as you worship with us during the presentation of the gospel.
"Greater love has no one than this; to lay down one's life for one's friend." This scripture, found in the 15th chapter of the Book of John, has been the central theme of the annual production at Lanier Baptist for the past 16 years. The play depicts Jesus, Son of God, who left His home in Heaven and humbly came to earth as a man to die for the sins of the world. His ultimate sacrifice paved the way for our salvation.
When you step into the sanctuary, you will be transported back in time, and the pages of the Bible will come to life before your very eyes. You will flash back to the beginning of time, in the book of Genesis with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Next, you will see the cave where Jesus was born and worship the newborn King alongside the shepherds and Wise Men.
Flashing forward to the book of Matthew, you will walk with Jesus through the streets of Galilee to Jerusalem. You will witness the crowds who came to see Him and the miracles that He performed. Your young ones will encounter the love that Jesus has for the children as they gather around and interact with Him as described in the book of Mark.
You will experience the forgiveness the Lord provides to sinners as you cross paths with the adulterous woman from the book of Luke, and you will feel the excitement as you happen upon the triumphal entry where Jesus rides one last time in the streets of Jerusalem. Next you will climb the hills of Golgotha and witness, first hand, the beating and crucifixion of Jesus and the weight of your sins as He bears them upon the cross.
Lastly, you will behold the powerful resurrection of Jesus at the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea. After the invitation, you will witness one of the most beautiful, majestic scenes, of the entire production, the Grand Finale, as described in the book of Revelation.
